Richmond Station

Richmond Station is the busiest train station outside Melbourne’s central business district. It collects transit passengers from the Richmond area, as well as those travelling in on the 70 tram along Swan Street and the 246 bus along Hoddle Street.

Overhaul shelved

In 2015 ABC News reported that a planned $8 million overhaul of Richmond Station was shelved by the state government, who claimed that it was no longer needed, owing to the Melbourne Metro project. Additional reporting in The Age.

Our view

Redeveloping Richmond Station into a modern, accessible, mixed-use precinct, with shops, businesses, and apartments, would be a wonderful outcome. We urge the state government to progress a redevelopment as soon as practicable.
