Thousands of people do, and we’d like to make our streets better and safer, with wider footpaths, trees, safe crossings, and protected bike lanes.
Council has started community engagement on the Cremorne Urban Design Framework, and we’d like you to be involved!
We’re a local volunteer, non-profit, community group who advocate to Council for better conditions for walking and biking, and we’d love to chat with you. Cremorne has experienced and will continue to see significant growth. The movement and transport network must change to accommodate this increase in people movement.

While street space is limited and it is not possible to accommodate all needs, Cremorne’s streets do provide an opportunity to reallocate some of the large amounts of space given to car movement and storage on Yarra’s streets to significantly improve conditions for walking and cycling.

Improving footpaths by removing barriers such as narrow footpath widths and increasing pedestrian crossings, will allow a greater mix of people including people with prams, in wheelchairs, or with children to get around more easily.

Improved connections will be provided to the South Yarra Station via an improved pedestrian and cycle bridge link.

Improve access from Oddys Lane and the Church Street Bridge to the Main Yarra Trail to ensure universal access to the river and an environment that safely caters for everyone.

How you can help
You can help by making a submission to Your Say Yarra, supporting the proposed improvements to walking and biking in Cremorne.
The submission doesn’t have to be long, it can be just be a couple of sentences that:
- introduce yourself (e.g. I’m a 27 year old who works in Cremorne and travels in by train),
- tells your story (e.g. I find it difficult to walk on the narrow footpaths), and
- supports both the revised Urban Design Framework and Draft Amendment C318yara.
