Streets Alive Yarra is building an online record of broad community support for walking, cycling, public transport and place making. One way that we do this is to have locals stand up as champions for their neighbourhood.
Please welcome our newest champion, Ali Wirtz – our local champion for West Clifton Hill.
I have lived in Clifton Hill (west of Hoddle Street) for over 20 years and love the proximity to parks, vibrant shopping strips, leisure centres and libraries. As an Occupational Therapist working in a community health service, I am aware of how the physical environment can support or limit a person’s capacity to move around and fully participate in their community. I’ve seen how installation of pedestrian crossings along Gold Street has made it easier for older residents to access Darling Gardens and parents more comfortable to let their kids walk or ride to school independently. Streets Alive Yarra is a positive and inclusive vision for our future and I am excited to be a part of it.
