Issues

Rowena Parade is a narrow street that suffers from a high volume of two-way motor vehicle traffic, particularly during peak hours and when events occur in the nearby sporting precinct. Drivers are probably attracted by the access to Punt Road.

Options

Council is conducting a Road Safety Study of Rowena Parade, and the entire neighbourhood bounded by Punt Road, Bridge Road, Church Street, and Swan Street.

Traffic calming

Local resident Elizabeth Honey has proposed a ‘Rowena Parade Park’, located near the Rowena Corner Store, created by closing the end of Alfred Street to through-traffic, thereby decreasing traffic on Rowena Parade.
