Roseneath Street

Roseneath Street is an east-west access street in Clifton Hill, and is a Strategic Cycling Corridor, part of Melbourne’s broader bicycle network.

Eastern Freeway upgrades

The Victorian state government is upgrading the Eastern Freeway between Hoddle Street and the new North-East Link. Part of this work includes improving infrastructure for walking and biking, i.e. improving the Main Yarra Trail, including a new bridge over the Yarra (in Kew, at Item 4 in the map below) to fill a missing connection.

The upgrades are welcome, and even better would be to expand the scope of the work slightly to include an upgrade of the Roseneath Street Bridge, which is classed as the highest priority (C1) Strategic Cycling Corridor.

As part of the Strategic Cycling Corridor network, the Roseneath Street Bridge should be upgraded from its existing 2.1 metre width to 4.0 metres wide, matching the width proposed for the new shared path bridge at Kew.
