Unleash private enterprise

Sometimes State and Local Governments don’t have to spend taxpayer’s money on infrastructure – the best solution is to deliver the appropriate regulation and then get out of the way of private enterprise.

In Yarra, we’ve suggested pop-up café parklets for COVID-19.

In Rotterdam, regulators have given permission to business to take over the on-street parking bay in front of their premises. As Chris Bruntlett reports:

The great reclaimation of Rotterdam has begun.‬ Given the green light from the municipality, businesses are converting thousands of parking spaces into people spaces, using whatever light/quick/cheap materials they can get their hands on.‬ This city will never be the same again.
