The National Association of City Transportation Officials (NACTO) have released a new guide – Designing Streets for Kids.
The guide points out that healthy kids means healthy adults.
Streets for Kids means infrastructure for independent mobility, as well as spaces to pause and stay.
The guide suggests 10 key actions.
With key actions being to improve footpaths (sidewalks in the USA) and protected bicycle lanes.
We applaud NACTO for publishing this free guide, and encourage residents, Officers and Councillors to read it. We’ve referenced the guide on our ‘better for children‘ page.
