On 9th December the state government gazetted the VC204 amendment to planning schemes, which flows through to Yarra’s Planning Scheme, clearly prioritising support for walking and biking.

Our view
Streets Alive Yarra applauds the state government for updating state planning provisions, including Yarra’s Planning Scheme, to highlight that planning should prioritise infrastructure for safe walking and biking. We now ask that local and state government collaborate to accelerate investment in such infrastructure, so that by 2030, all households in Yarra are within Low Traffic Neighbourhoods that are linked by a network of protected bicycle lanes.
